Still having cooling issues...

Fair enough, it's just the computer heats my room up at the moment, I actually sweat in here it's that hot.

Probably doesn't help that my room is 2 meters x 2 meters... dam 2nd child gets the box room. If all goes well im hoping to move into a room 3/4x the size of this in July which should help with air availability

Loved my computer throwing out heat in winter. Not so impressed now its summer.

Diagram looks ok. I'm still unconvinced by side vents. They introduce more air, but they also run the continuous flow of air through the computer. Might be needed for your cards, but Id rearrange everything first to see if side fans can be avoided.

This is a pet hate of mine though, frustrating having to unplug them when you take the side off, and another route for noise to escape through. My case came with mounting points for two 120mm fans in the side, and I'm pleased to have blocked them off. It might not be a particularly logical dislike.

Instead of a side fan (like JonJ678, I too don't like the idea) how about putting a small fan into the bottom of the case, blowing cool air into the case that will then flow up and back with the air flow created by the 120mm front fans. This is easy to do, could use the spare 92mm fan and will help cool the graphics cards to some extent. Most cases have feet that keep the base of the case off the floor (or whatever it sits on) by 15mm or so, which ought to allow enough air to the fan.
Also, removing any metalwork that obstructs the intake or exhaust of air is easy to do, and can't harm at all !

I give up!!!

I just reorganised all my fans, wires and my hard drive has crept up to 55c again... this is actually making me want to send all my components back.

I now have 2 x 120mm front intakes, stacked on top of each other vertically (taking up 6 bays at front) so my system should be getting loads of air!

On top of this, my hard drive is mounted directly behind the intake in an open top / bottom rack to allow maximum airflow, yet it still overheats?

When PC was first on it was at 40c straight away which is fine, but it's the creeping that is annoying me.

I need drastic solutions now... bar watercooling or expensive cases (unless I can sell this one).

Step beyond that is reverse the direction of the top fan. I will tease the first person to tell me that this is going against the laws of physics, try it and see.

Actually I know everyone says the top fan should blow air out, in reality when I tried it blowing air in it helped my temperatures. So maybe give this a try even if it sounds illogical.

Also it might just be that the GPUs are producing too much heat and its just heating everything else up. When I moved from an ATI x1900xt which was running quite hot but known to do that normally to a nvidia 9600gt running very cool, all the temperatures in my case came down

Also excuse me if I appear stupid but Ive never seen a PSU mounted vertically at the top like that, usually Ive seen them put in flat with the fan drawing air from the bottom. Is how you done it normal for your case?

If you leave the side panel off do the temperatures improve considerably?

I'll try this tomorrow, I need to have case open to plug in IDE anyway, silly me forgot to plug it back in.

Yeah I think this is what's happening, I just need a prevention method...

And yes this is a thermaltake va8000bws, mounts sideways. I personally like it because it lays flat against the side and gives u lots of room to work with.

Id imagine the hard drive would be cooler now with the fans blowing over it, but I had the side off all day yesterday and it didn't help much. Bare in mind it has a 1 inch gap if the side is off as it's in a pc drawer under my desk (back of it is open for ventilation) and it has no top either. I was thinking about cutting away the side of the wood panel, which I might do this week sometime.

Thermaltake. That's unfortunate. Having it sitting in a desk might be causing problems too, are the temperatures the same with it sat on the top of the desk? If so, then cutting up the desk wont help.

Hard to tell from the photo where the hard drive is relative to the fans, I'm confused that the temperatures are still fairly high if there is airflow directly over it, have you got a backup of the data?

Do your cards exhaust out of the case, or into it? I'm not familiar with the cooler design on the newer amd cards. If it's currently exhausting in both directions then aftermarket coolers which exhuast out of the case could be the answer you need

Pretty sure it fires it out of the back, a reason for it being dual slot id imagine as well. Has little grills on 1 1/2 which has a fair flow of air coming out. The unfortunate side effect is my pc gpu fans can be heard from downstairs when its on max :D

Thermaltake was a cracking case 2 years ago, this was a brilliant one, rave reviews etc. I guess things have just moved on since then... :(

And heres the funny thing, I cant put it on my desk as my room is too small. You may laugh... I will not hold it against you
