Still not got SP1...

Can you please explain why it is idiotic?

are my posts that poorly worded you cannot understand them?

i clearly state (in agreement with dbmzk1) that i have had no file copy/network problems with vista pre-sp1. and then you reply with this....

Just because neither of you have used Vista to the extent where this has reared its ugly head and been an obvious problem, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

now that my friend, that is pure idiocy. try re-reading again, slowly if you have to. you wrote it, it shouldn't be that hard to understand. ;)

as i stated in my first reply, i'm well aware that file copying/network transfers have been a huge issue for many, many people. but i'm not so ignorant to say, just because i don't have these problems that you're imagining the problems that you have. conversely, i don't expect such comments from yourself telling me i must suffer from the same issues that you do. just because some online reviews agree with your experience doesn't mean it has to affect me too.

I can read and understand perfectly well. Why you have mentioned whether I can or not is some what off topic and an attempt to lead away from the original post, by trying to undermine me infront of your forum buddies (asim18 being a major culprit here, take your nose out of his **** you little boy).

You couldn't be so ignorant to say I was imagining the issues, because they were so obvious! And idiocy would be to say it doesn't exist.

The comment I made was a blunt and I should have really said something more along the lines of 'you probably have them, you just haven't noticed them in your own personal day to day Vista use'.

But to be honest dbmzk1's reply really ****** me off. Typical arrogant forum dweller. Disgusting attitude, that if he spoke to someone with such a sharp tongue in the 'real world' he'd end up on the wrong end of a slap. This forum seems to be full of them to be fair.

From what I've read about it, the code is the same on ALL pre SP1 Vista installs. It wasn't a hardware specific issue, it was a kernel based issue. Thats why I find it difficult to believe that your saying the issues don't exist for yourself. Which prompted me to think that you probably haven't used it to an extent where these problems became apparent. Not idiotic, but maybe assuming.

But now I just think that they do exist, they just haven't been so bad that for you to think they are there :p

wow the fanboyism in here, when people have problems, and then all jump on that person- looks like mac forum.

It's just a blooming operating system, and this is coming from a computer nerd. So that must make your uber nerds.

My computer has still not downloaded Vista SP1. I am on 32bit Home Premium. Any idea why? Unfortunately I cant use Vista at the moment-thanks to Crucial's fantastic RAM I am currently down to 512mb, but when I do get back up and running how can I get hold of SP1? Is it worth it? Are there any risks attached?

Windows update will not allow you to download SP1 if it detects an incompatible setup (incompatible driver etc.).

First check that there aren't any other outstanding Windows Updates that need to be installed (these will either be critical or important updates rather than optional).

Second, if SP1 is still not showing up, check for any new/updated drivers for your hardware.

If all else fails then backup your system and download the SP1 update as posted above.

[sigh] go and read my very first post again.

indeed. none of the windows updates/sp1 since release have made any major improvements for me. i guess i must be lucky - everything has worked just fine since day one. now of course i realise network/disk copy speeds have been a huge issue for many, many people. infact i think there are some whose problems haven't been fixed by sp1, rendering EvilFranky's post ever more useless than it already was. :p

your one rule fits all simply does not apply here. that's all i'm trying to say. and yes your post is still idotic because i've told you i don't have a problem with it yet you just assume i haven't actually used my pc in such a way that i will be affected.

if you started a thread saying crysis crashed continually on your pc and i replied saying it worked fine on mine, would you really think i didn't play it and was just making it up? that's basically what you're implying.......
