No he's not, he's a crap driver - driving isn't JUST about car control. A 'very very good driver' wont be found travelling at 130mph in a village with a 30mph speed limit.

Sorry, let me rephrase. He's a very technically competant driver and obviously very skilled.

But yes, he is an irresponsible crap driver.

How do you think the van knows how fast the car is travelling? Using laser. In the back of a van is a man with a device which first measures the speed of the car, and a photo is taken if its speeding.

I must admit I just had that thought and was trying to google exactly how they work.

Would the photographic evidence not work even if the laser was jammed though?

What, wrong info?

Well, I didn;t know it was wrong when posted but yes, thinkign about it, your right.

The only ones which won;t use laser are ones which use marks on the road a known distance apart and the time taken between the marks (if they are still used)

Photograph evidence of what? It's just a picture of a car without the speed data which is obtained using radar. It's not like a GATSO where two photos are taken and they can use the lines etc..

They still use laser. Otherwise they'd have to take a photo of every car that drove past.

I think you are missing the point, the jammer wont save your license.

If you come across a plod with a laser camera and it doesnt work (due to being jammed), yet the car is clearly speeding they will inevitably set off after it - especially if its an ego boosting penis extension like a lambo.

The driver will be caught, and they will be prosecuted because during the persuit they will have got a speed reading, or enough of one to convict with film evidence. Once pulled they are likely to find the jammer and add this to the list of offences.

See....pointless. Just dont drive like a knob and there is no need for one.

This is where my mistake comes from then. I was under the impression they did work much like a GATSO.

To be fair, I did end my first post making my point with a questionmark as I wasnt entirely sure :p I knew someone would be along to point it out :D

Ah, I see.

'Worst my Dad is loaded' thread ever. I mean as if you really expect anyone here to have a £3k radar jammer

I have one :(

Bad assumption!

A few of us here use LI quads and valentines or escort 9500's.

Personally I use the LI quads with the 9500ix and thus far it has been superb.

I'd tell your dad to wind his neck in, 130mph in a 30mph deserves time off for bad behaviour, sounds like he needs to learn self control before trying to mitigate his stupidity when it comes to driving. I'm assuming he's a wise man in other things if he has been able to spend on a Lambo and I also assume (read take with a pinch of salt) that he's actually doing these sort of speeds anyway...

1. He's not my dad, he's my boss (as stated already)
2. Agreed he drives too fast....200mph on the A1 last year
3. Normal motorway cruising speed for him is around 130 to 160 mph
4. Nobody will tell him what to do incuding the local police who him and his lambo got a car asbo thing last year after he overtook the local counciller doing 130 and I quote "his car made my fiat shake as it went past"
5. Yes, a very good business man but he loves fast cars. Yes, he does track days and everything but he isn't going to take his supercar out every weekend in summer and just do 70 mph.
6. Even his everyday car does 156mph speed limited easily

he is a very, very good driver

I'd say, from what you write, he thinks he's a very very good driver, in fact, I'd hazzard a guess he's anything but that!

Normal cruising speed 130 - 160MPH? motorway or not, from the point of view of somebody who lives on our motorways, that is complete & utter ********!

Your boss sounds like a massive bell end. I hope the ***** loses his license. I'm sure we've all broken speed limits, but to do those kind of speeds regularly is an absolute joke. No matter how good a driver he thinks he is, he is still putting other people's lives at risk (and his own, although I don't care about that).

One word; ********.

They don;t work like that.

Copper points laser at car
Jammer blocks it and copper gets an error message on his gun
Alarms go off in car
Driver slows to within speed limit (or at least less than 100)
Jammer deactivates itself automatically
Copper gets a proper reading
Copper mad as he should have got the car but user error etc meant he cocked up trying to get a reading.

I've only read the first 10 or so posts, but your boss sounds like a massive bell end.

He is a good driver or very lucky. He's never crashed.

I can testify I was once out with him on the motorway and looked across at the speedo as I knew we were going fast in the Aston and we were doing 150mph

Yes, he is a *******.

Even in his Range Rover he once tried to race an s2000 round an inner ring road with roundabouts at 100mph after the driver had cut him up. This lasted until we did a 180 on one roundabout.

Is he rude to customer service/sales people on the phone/in shops by any chance?

Not sure why, but I've painted this picture of this guy in my head now, and I hate him.
