Stock 6600 temps too high?

peetee said:
my 4300 hits 69 on full load. AC7 etc. Having a fiddle with it tommorow.

my e6600 is stock speed, and i have fitted the AC7 and cleaned it perfectly, applied AS5 as per instructions, and i am getting 45 idle and 57 load (20 mins load)

not really happy with it, but cannot seem to improve it, it is fitted on perfectly as far as i am concerned.

its been on and off 4 times already

idle temps seem similar to the stock intel fan, although the load temps are better with the AC7, they are far from perfect

you might have a wonky conroe, concave or whats the other one? its a fairly common problem with 6x00 series core2duos. Havnt heard it being a problem with the 4300s though

but wouldnt the AC7 still perform better than the stock, even if it was wonkey?

looks straight to me, and the copper heatsink sits on it snug it seems..

i tried it without paste out of the machine just to see.. no gaps

sometimes there can be a dip in the middle of the cpu etc. Bad contact could generally mean the ac7 isnt getting the ability to do its job properly.
Im not really sure though mate, mine runs too hot aswell. Dont think its the HSF fault tho, generally the temps are a bit high for a c2d.. Going to see what theyr like at stock.

how did u get on

stock everything under full load : 56 -blasphemy! Thank god im flogging it, soon-ish. Havnt tried reseating the heatsink fan, iv got the AC7, using it with the thermal paste already on - dont really want to reseat it as its hardened and basically the thermal paste i have is crap.
