Hi there guys i was recently looking at cpu coolers but have the problem of my mobo being micro ATX and having only 2 RAM slots and a lot of coolers would probably cover these and im so tight with my money at the moment. i was thinking, My AMD 955BE heatsink has a 70mm 4pin fan on it and its loud. it looks like its held on by four plastic clips. i wanted to ask if anyone has taken the stock fan off before and fitted a quieter and better cooling 70mm fan? as obv it would be cheaper for me. or is there anyway i can clip a slightly larger fan onto the heatsink with clips or would that not be safe? thanks for any info.

I don't think a decent 70mm fan will make that much difference to be honest. It's spinning up in an attempt to cool down your CPU. Fitting a larger heatsink with larger fan is really the best option. If you have big heatspreaders on your RAM it may interfere but otherwise any tower will fit over them if they are standard height.

You don't need to spend much to get a decent cooler with 120mm. It'll be worth the noise drop I can assure you.
