Stockton

So if you had to live within a commutable distance, Yarm/Eaglescliffe? Any other places?
Define commutable. I know people who live near me and commute there every day. It's about a 2 hour drive for them.

Good point - ideally a short commute, <30mins. Going to be there for 3 years.

And where are you?

Plenty of villages in the Darlington-Stockton-Sedgefield triangle that are nice and should be <30min commute depending on which side of Stockton you are looking at

Excellent, thanks.

North Stockton I'll be working in

Wynyard has some lovely properties! But I'll be renting for 3 years. And don't have a 7 figure bank account.

Up in the middle of Northumberland.

I love it up here, came up 5 years ago and don't intend to move back south. Northumberland is beautiful. Spent a few months with the air ambulance last year, absolutely stunning part of the country

Parts of Darlington are nice but the town folk are bizarre. I would be looking at Yarm, Hutton rugby, stokesley etc.

Love Cleveland area, grew up there, folks live there and I still consider it home despite being in Nottingham since 1998

Lol they really are aren't they?

Yep, me and a mate used to work there and travel from Stokesley every day. We used to go and sit in the center at lunch time and marvel at the array of strange characters about. Its no coincidence that the half of Vic and Bobs characters were based on Darlo folk. The Brothers Stot, you could often see walking round, one had a real stuffed dog held together with orange charlie band

The only place I would consider within Stockton would be Norton - But not all parts of it. Some of it is OK. The high street has had a lot of improvement over the years.

But yeah, Yarm would be a good place to consider, or Sadberge. Maybe also check out Hartburn - quite nice there.
