Stomach bug

I dunno why but I've had maybe 3 bad stomach bugs in the last three yrs.. Never had them before in my life, well maybe one 15yrs ago, but 3 in three yrs?? I was told by my doctor that its passed on by people preparing food such as fast food resturants that havent washed their hands properly after having the bug themselves.. (Just to make you feel a whole lot better)

Anyway here's what i do. Just eat dry toast with some apple sauce. No butter, just the apple sauce and drink loads of non fizzy drink that has lots of electrolytes..

Should be all set after 48hrs or so.. Albeit a very very miserable 48hrs.

let me tell you about my "stomach bug"

2 years ago i had a bad stomach bug and actually passed out and awoke to find paramedics above me.

doctors symptoms...Gastroenteritis.

fine i said as i did have some ice cream the night before (dairy products can sometimes cause this).

fast forward to this year about 5 months ago.

been losing weight quite rapidly but not on a diet.

been bleeding from my rear end.

apatite has gone through the roof on several occasions.

Saturday just gone i had these stomach bug again but this time it was so severe i was on the toilet 10 to 15 times a day.

Tuesday morning felt a bit better so went to the doctors and within 20 mins i was rushed into hosppital for 7 hours having test's due to a suspected Appendicitis.

having got out of hospital with a very sore rear end (probes and fingers inserted) i have been diagnosed with Colitis.

got some more test's to have in the next few week's and now on 8 tablets a day.

so called stomach bug !

For god's sake, don't eat a diary :D although, it'd be better than runny eggs!

If you can keep toast down and you feel your appetite coming back, that's a good sign. Eat more toast! Put something on it. Then go for some Weetabix and milk. If you haven't borked or **** the last meal out, you're well on the mend.

Careful tho, you'll be tender inside, don't pile a ton of pasta down your neck just yet.

As soon as I saw "blood from rear end" I thought of Colitis.

You have a crap doctor.

I've had a stomach bug since Wednesday night, for anyone thats ever had one before you'll know what its like, I have never sampled the delights before and its safe to say its not a pleasent experiance

I went to the Dr's and she said starve yourself and drink lots of water, great I can do that and I have, I have not eaten since Wednesday night and my appetite is coming back, i've had two peices of dry toast just now and my stomach is now making interesting sounds etc but I cant live off that, I go on holiday next week so i'm not wanting to eat something thats going to set it off again

Has anyone else been given advice off a Dr on what to eat when recovering from a stomach bug? She said no diary, what about boiled egg is that diary? I'm glad my appetite is coming back but its frustrating not knowing what to eat

I had the flaming trots for about 9 days, no nausea or vomiting though so I just eat normally and drank a lot. Kids had it too, cost me a small fortune in nappies and Bepanthen.

I caught the norovirus a day after landing in Cyprus. I had to sit on the toilet with a bucket in my hands because it was coming out of both ends simultaneously.

I was wiped out for almost a week.

After that I could only eat heavy food so I went for pork souvlaki which helped loads.

I got e-coli or something first week of our holiday this summer, starting the first travel day. Only plus was no vomiting but other than that it was a decicively bloody affair.

No dairy (milk, eggs, cheese) etc
No green vegetables

Yes potatoes
Yes fried meats (ie steak)

Steak and chips it is then
