My car received a lot of stone chip damage this morning from a lorry that was shedding its load because it wasn’t secured at the top correctly, I was joining from a slip road behind the vehicle, would I be able to get the HGV company to rectify the damage, I have it recorded on my dash cam where you can see and hear the load hitting my car, I don’t want to claim on my insurance but would my insurance company be able to pursue the other company with the dash cam footage?

wouldn't you report it to the police ASAP since you have evidence ? hard to see an HGV company not doing the repair on their insurance company books, and, they would take it most seriously with a report#.
(often in Cambs have lorries with loads of potatoes , they're not joining major roads, but you stand back just in case; can see the lost ones at the bends/bumps )

You can certainly ask them, but I would imagine they will tell you to jog on. Even with your video evidence I'd imagine you're going to be fighting an uphill battle to get reimbursed for any damage.

How much have you been quoted to repaint the panel(s)?

We've done it a few times where one of our drivers has been a muppet. Can report to the police also as its the drivers responsibility to secure their load. Should be covered or netted.

Only happened this morning, this wasn’t a single stone-chip, it was like getting hit by a gritting truck but with stones.

Well they came back saying it was only carrying wheat so couldn’t have caused chips to the paint work, but here is our insurance details if you want to talk to them.

I used to work in the milling industry and when the wheat was unloaded, before it went to be milled, all the rubbish that was with it had to be filtered off.

So it’s very likely there were stones and other detritus there as well. That’s no excuse.

Is the video clear enough that you can see the stones falling from the truck?

Directly near me the farmer mainly farms onions. Always plenty spread around. as they bounce around shedding them from the back of the trailer.
Having previously lived in Bury St Edmunds, you stayed well away from beet lorries. Those things hit like a house brick.

I doubt it was wheat, looking at your stills from the video it looks more like rock salt which would cause chips to your paint work.
