Stone chip damage from a Lorry

I doubt it was wheat, looking at your stills from the video it looks more like rock salt which would cause chips to your paint work.

Googling the company name seems to back up your claims.

"Haulage Services
Bulk Animal Feed Haulage
Bulk Blower & Sucker Haulage
Aggregates Haulage
Bulk Cereals Haulage
Bulk Tipper Haulage
Bulk Road Salt Haulage"

Just to update, I’m waiting for their insurance company to come back to me after registering the claim against them on Monday

Good luck but I suspect you'll have a hard time "proving" the damage to your car came specifically from the load of their lorry.

Pictures / video of stuff coming off the back of the truck doesn't prove that the damage was actually caused at that point.

I hope you do get what you want from it - but I suspect the insurance company will ask you to prove it before agreeing to any remedial action

It just so happens that my car was in VW last week for a service, and my particular garage takes a video with and iPad when you drop it off showing the condition of the vehicle, just incase anyone try’s to say the garage has caused damage, they have just sent that video over to me.

Unfortunately that still doesn't prove that the damage was caused by the haulage company. I completely understand what happened to you isn't fair at all, but you're going to be fighting a massive uphill battle to get anything from them - especially if their first reaction was to deny that what the truck was carrying would do the damage you claim.

If the damage is as light as you suggest then I'd get it repaired and by all means chase them for the figure it cost you, but pre-emptively asking them to pay for repairs is unlikely to get you anywhere. I've had this exact experience when my wheels were damaged in a Morrison's car park.

Insurance is dealt with on the balance of probabilities and all evidence/representations made are taken in food faith unless there is evidence to contradict them.

You don’t have to ‘prove’ anything, it’s not going to criminal court.

You might be lucky, or you might have an uphill struggle. Be interesting to see the outcome. A shame the company has just denied it though.

Is there a social media mechanism to see if other folks on the road were hit too (in cambs A14 stuff is on a twitter road incidents feed I believe) - did you report it to the police.

the noise of the impact must be a good tell of whether it was grain or heavier/sharper particles, plus close up SLR shot of damage pattern.

Another update, showed the assessor the footage, he could see the chips in the paintwork, he actually said it’s BS about them saying wheat couldn’t cause damage, because as a biker a fly ******* hurts when it hits him at 60mph. Asked if I was happy to use my garage or their own, so I would call that a result.
