I think what Sone is referring to is the wet sanding method. Basically you fill the stonechip using a touchup paint, and then use very fine wet and dry to rub it down to the level of the surrounding paint. While doing this your going to end up creating a matt area around the chip, at which point you bring it back upto a high gloss with a rotary. Definitely see detailing world before you start, and i'd advise practising on a spare body panel before having a go on your pride and joy....
