Stop Firefox jumping around when images load?

Is there a way to stop Firefox from jumping all over the page as images load, e.g. in the random image thread? Annoys me. :p
 
i think ie solves this particular problem by using 'show image download placeholders'. not sure if firefox has that option

Edit: actually i think ff may show them by default, so i guess that wont do it

I doubt it's possible. Firefox, or any browser, won't know the size of the image before it's loaded - unless the height/width is specified by the page including the image (which won't happen in the random image thread as the
 
Can't it just lock onto the bit of the page you're looking at and let the page expand around that?

This is a feature I've always wanted. The last time this came up, someone pointed out that it'd get complicated with multi-column layouts, but there must be some way round it!
 
Same, annoys the hell out of me. I end up hitting the stop button and looking at the image i want, then leaving it to jump around a bit more.

I do the same with ebay and a few other pages
