stop people viewing source and css

well she still hasn't paid, after many emails, requestiong money through paypal and still no money. Every now and again i get an email saying something like, oh been real busy, my step dad just died, latest one recieved today is that her mum sent it through paypal but to the wrong address and sent the wrong amount so they spent ages getting it back which they now have but paypal wont let them use the account no more

Although this is probably all rubbish and i wont be seeing the money she is asking for another way to get the money to me. What else could she do to get it to me other then a cheque as im sure it will only get cancelled.

Bank transfer - over the counter or internet
Post office payment

I would give her until the end of the week and then take the site offline. That will get the money for you!

what details of mine would she need for bank transfer? and also how do you do a post office payment?

I already took it down today as its been ages and still no payment

Very unprofessional of her, deaths or no deaths. Doesn't take 2 seconds to post a cheque.
It's not even like you're asking for a lot of money either. Almost seems like she thinks because it's not 'tangible' it's not worth paying for.

Develop on your own server, then transfer the site from your development server to their hosting when the client's happy - but only once you've got the final payment. They still get to view the site and check on progress, but at the same time you're not giving them anything 'till they've paid for it :D

I know of a few JavaScript encrypters, that basically just make the JavaScript unreadable, but as for HTML / CSS I dont think it's possible to do. The way I would do it, to show them what it looks like is either a Flash version, or a "pictures only" so more of a slideshow for them to look at, rather than being able to interact with it and view source code.

Actually, just been browsing around, check this out. Even more wonderful about the demo page it links too, is that when you view the source it's purely encrypted :)

Transfer

Name
Account number
Sort code

Post office - she basically goes in and says she wants to send you some money and they give her a card that she puts "stamps" on to the value she owes you and then sends you it. Once you have it all you need to do is take it to the PO and cash it in.

They can still rip the HTML and CSS though.

That's true, but none of the backend server code.. I'm damned sure it isn't going to work without the full picture (unless the site is 100% static and isn't using any server-side stuff)..

One other thing I just thought of, who owns the domain name? If you own it, she is at a loss long-term unless she takes you to court to try to prove you are just domain-squatting.. point out to her that she won't have the domain name for the future unless she pays up ;)

php countdown function on all your sites, 1 week from date of your choice, on the end of the countdown the site magically changes to tell the public world taht they have ripped someone off on the website :)

best way to do it is host it yourself, but even if it is just html and css they can just download it and host it wherever they want!

edit:

That ioncube(?) doesn't work.
Click encode and then press shift+apple+s and I can see the source perfectly fine, but then if i view the generated source(apple+s) its encoded, bodged lol!

But that isn't difficult to remove if they have access to the site and doens't protect the (x)html/css.

More importantly, the page is entirely broken without javascript.

Which means it won't index properly with google, and yet it can still easily be hacked with a live HTML viewer (rather than source).

Nice try though.
