Hi Overclockers, i need your help.

i recently got virgin installed in my new house and everyday i've had calls from stupid companies all asking for "Mr Anderson, or sometimes Mrs Anderson"

first time it was from an energy provider who i entertained and explained no one called Anderson lives here and its a new phoneline in my new home.
i thought i got through to him but he rang up a few more times saying "it doesnt have to be Mr Anderson just the house hold owner". i shouted something like "DONT PHONE BACK I DONT CARE!".

so a few days pass and i get a call from a new compay, Consumer life styles,

i had my friend over at the time and when she said "can i speak with Mr Anderson", i replied with "my name is Neo" and hung up. (thought it was funny at the time)

now every day since for the past 2 weeks they have rand every 3 hours and no matter how many times i say "no one called anderson lives here" they keep ringing back, they rang me at 5am the other day and just rang me 2 minutes ago 8:55pm.

its getting beyond a joke!.

if i phone virgin do you think they could do anything for me?

Do what I do...

"Oh I'm sorry, you haven't heard? He died in a fatal car crash 2 weeks ago, he was killed instantly"

Then see what the ***** have to say. If they continue to ring back, threaten legal action and they should stop it. If they STILL continue, record the calls and send to TSA or OFCOM, and tell them that you are now recording all calls.

They would be stupid to ring back once they know you're recording them.

get one of them air horn things you use at football games.

Wait for call
Answer call
if its a cold caller....... blow his ears up
rinse and repeat

wont solve the problem but at least you will get a laugh, GBH by airhorn !!!!

Add your number to the BT Do Not Call list. You can then claim that their call is actually illegal, if they call again

Every time they ring, reel off as many "Yo' mamma so..." jokes you can until they hang up. Do it every single time, see how long it takes for them to stop calling.

Cheers for TPS and Silent Guard... even signed myself up to those! We get 4-5 a day here, usually pre-recorded garbage, problem is they get through to the answer machine too! So each day you come back with a pile of crap to listen to.

TPS doesnt actually matter if you have opted in for marketing. Well, its a grey area. You or someone giving your details has said its okay to call you. This could be through insurance quotes, hoover warranty cards etc etc.

You need to ask where they got their data from, then you need to write to that company and they will remove you from their lists.

I work in this industry, so I'd like to think I know my stuff :)

BUUUUURN THE TELEMARKETER!!!! BURRRN

TPS worked a charm for me. Like a previous poster stated it can take a month or two to kick in but it works for me.

people ring me all the time, i tend to spend a lot of time on the phone to them if i have time to talk, mainly while driving, (handsfree) when it comes to handing over card details tho i always say no, pretty sure this pi**es them off, they dont tend to ring back

i registered with that TPS, also next one to phone me im going to ask where they got my number from ect,

getting unreal!.

well my girlfriend rings her mother quite a lot who lives a fair distance :S

(she'll be my wife on saturday ^^, the girlfriend not the mother >.> (before any trolling starts))

I get the same problem with my number from VM 7 months on now, always asking for Mr/Mrs Hammond.

I told one guy he had the wrong number and he had the cheek to tell me I was lying, It gets annoying having to explain to idiots that telephone companies re-use numbers.

I added my number to that TPS thing so it has dropped down a bit, but still get a few a week.
