StopZilla - don't buy - they are lie !!!!

Remove the companion CD...

Personally the moment I see any mention of rebate, etc. I'm off like a cat on hot coals.

Your internet licence has been revoked.

Well, I'd be more worried about my bank details if I was OP. Seems as they have to either re-think their browsing habits or employ some common sense. I hate to sound nasty but why did you think you needed stopzilla? Surely that kind of mentality died out with 56k internet access?

I neither use a software firewall or virus scan. If you are half clued up there is no need. If you are a little bit paranoid you run a scan every six months.

The lack of a software firewall is not a problem if you are behind a hardware firewall or NAT, and you are careful about the ports you forward.

If you are running Windows with no anti-virus then you have a problem. My NOD32's background protection has fired and blocked files from some surprisingly reputable websites. You can't rely on any sites protection from hackers, if you do you'll end up sending all the spam.

You can't help but laugh at people who pay good money for stuff like antispyware when there are numerous excellent free applications on the go. Try Superantispyware or Adaware or Spybot - all excellent applications and completely free.

The only people I laugh at more are the internet heroes who think they know enough not to use antivirus software. Do you people have the faintest idea how much crap is out there? Do you know how easy it is for people to hack perfectly legitimate websites and insert malicious code there? Obviously not, or you would be protecting yourselves.

By being super cautious while browsing, you may, possibly, manage to avoid infection. Why take the chance though? There is excellent AV software out there for free; Avast is excellent, as is AVG. Neither of these use much in the way of resources so, unless you're browsing on a PII with 32MB RAM, why take the chance  Like BigglesPip, I too have had Avast flag up dodgy files coming from sites one would normally trust.

This is hardly deceptive marketing.

It says "Total (after rebate)" in a large font and "Price shown is after mail-in rebate." right next to that.

Annoying? Yes, especially as you'll have to mail your rebate form to Florida. The form states only properly and entirely completed forms will be processed. Unfortunately you can't fill it out properly or entirely as it only has spaces for US addresses. They also can't mail you a check (sic) with you not having a US bank account and all.

Guess someone is going to have to call them again :o
