Hey :)

I'd like to rip my blu-ray collection and store it for easy access to watch at home, both on my main PC and lappy in the bedroom. I have around 300 blu-rays and want room for more, ripping them at the best quality.

My main PC (HTPC) is connected to my router via ethernet and my bedroom laptop is connected via wi-fi.

I've been looking around and am a little confused with my options.

Whats the best thing for me to buy ?I'm a total idiot when it comes to hardware and its configuration, so please speak to me like a lil kid :)

Main PC :
GTX 970
i7 4790K
24 GB RAM

Laptop :
Gigabite P27K
GTX 765M
i7 4700MQ
16 GB RAM

Router :
TalkTalk Huawei HG635

Thanks for reading.

At a guess

Shameless bump !

Maybe I should have been a little more elaborate in my OP.

What I'm asking is, do I need a micro server/server, NAS storage or an independent storage solution ( if so , how do I stream the content)

At a guess its currently going to be around 8 TB for my films and them some for additional storage. Possibly double if I want a back up. Lets call it an even 20TB.

Any ideas please ?

Are you looking for data redundancy - i.e. are you happy to re-rip the affected films if a drive fails, or do you want RAID of some kind to help protect against that? The answer to that would help with deciding how many disk bays you need etc.

If you're not comfortable with configuring hardware and software then a ready to go NAS would be better - but that size storage capacity isn't going to be cheap.

If you're ok with installing windows then maybe a PC with a few drive bays, then pop windows on it and create a read-only share? Bear in mind a copy of the data on the same device isn't a backup.
