I've recently made the move to sell up on my desktop PC and migrate to a laptop only. On my PC, I had 2x500GB drives. One was the primary, the other was solely for backup. I then had a further 1TB external USB drive as a backup of the backup in case of failure on the internal.

Now I have the laptop, I really fancy trying an SSD. It will only be 128GB due to cost. Problem... I dont particuarly want to use my USB backup regularly at the risk of it failing.

Cant decide whether to buy a 1TB 5200rpm drive and partition it to 2x500GB or go down the route of a 128GB SSD plus an additional external drive.

It will be used at home only, use split between on a chair/desk and on the couch.

Anyone have any opinions or advice?
