I have just completed a data recovery for my sister on an 80GB sata drive formatted Fat16. The data size on the drive showed as 43GB approx.
Recovered data size on a partition from my 2TB NTFS hard disk reports 162GB an approximate jump in size of nearly 400%.
I appreciate that the sector size on the new disk is much larger and with thousands of small files there will be a lot of space wasted but it just goes to show you cannot rely on recovering data like this to a disk of near identical size unless similarly formatted, which is unlikely today.
