storage for note book

got my daughter a note book for college today, it only has 32 gig storage on a soldered ssd/emmc what ever you want to call it.
wanted to get her an SD card for extra storage along with a mem stick for transferring stuff around college.
want a decent size SD card but not bought one myself in years so not sure whats what now.
what do you recommend for speed, storage and reliability?
moneys not an issue so any suggestions are welcomed thanks

What machine?Some have a max SD card size so you want to get one that is compatible and fast

I'd go for one of those tiny USB drives that sit almost flush. Faster and cheaper than an SD card.
