Good eveing ladies and gents.

I'm looking for some help in regards to faster external storage from my main computer to a das or nas type product.

If I were to buy this network adaptor
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-xg-c100c-10gbase-t-pcie-network-adapter-nw-10j-as.html

and pair it with this type of product, would it work just directly connecting to each other.

Sorry to all members who find this one of those facepalm type posts, but I am absolutely hopeless setting up networks and so forth.

If this is a viable solution, will I be able to get a tangiable difference in performance if any etc over usb 3.0 type of solution.

Regards

Those two products would work together but the NAS is way slower than the network card.

The card is 10gb
The nas has 2x1gb

So the NAS will bottleneck.

Thunderbolt or USB3.1 with fast external SSD drives can be as fast, 99% of the time compared to a directly attached SATA3 SSD.

How much space do you need?

A DAS is almost gtd to be faster than a NAS ... a very fast solution is one of the USb3 ..3.1 portable SSD drives, eg the samsung t3 or t5 . You really need to decide whether you need network access or direct attached storage is fine?
Again are you xfr lots of small files (very slow) or just a few large files (fast) ..
