I'm looking to building a storage/backup server when i move into a house in the near future. I'm looking for a cheapish (<£100) case with a minimum of 8 5.25" external drive bays to take 2 of these.

I would like 10-11 5.25" so i can fit 3 of these and a CD drive in.

also lockable fount would be relay good.

so far the Antec Nine Hundred seams like a good bet. are there any other better options, please no rule braking on my behalf, so if OCUK don't stock it please link to manufactures website

EDIT: i know the caddy only use up 3 drive bays, i have other plans for the spare drive bays.

a bit bling bling but that can be sorted by taking out the blue led fans

was thinking about that one, as i already have one, but its a bit two much to be hoist, i would think the Antec Nine Hundred is better for the price, as I'm planing to do it with 1TB drives, so thats 7TB of storage with two the caddies, wich i think will be enough.

Im really really looking for a lockable fount.

one of the above would be good, can get one for £94, but this would "force" me to get some racks.

anything like that in a desktop environment

so can anybody get what i want for <£94 with 6 5.25"

EDIT: and yes its far to bling bling :p

That would not force you to get racks at all, as there is a kit that allows you to have that setup like a normal tower case. I believe the groups of 3x5.25" bays would probably work the other way round too... (this is going on past experience of servers...)

can anybody tell me if the bottom 3X5.25" cover can be removed so I can put a caddy in there??

Yes it can, as that's where you mount the HDD's also :)

didn't you notice the "force" ow darn it I'm going to "have" to get some racks... :p

I think the compucase is now well in the lead, there is actually a slot for a slim CD drive under the left hand side 5.25" drive bays, and there is also a 3.5" bay under the right hand side 5.25" drive bays, i also read somewhere if can have up to 16 HDD drive in there.

bring on 15TB in raid 5 :D :D

whats the name of the kit? to allow you to use the above case like a normal tower case

as far as i can see, it is supply with it.

full case details can be found at:

i think this is an awesome case form what I have read, have seen it for £80 in vat, not that i would buy it from the place i did, but its not an expensive case at all.

OCUK please please stock this...

EDIT: it takes Extended ATX boards, so it would make one hell of a water cooled rig
