Hi all,

What is your storage setup you have in your machine? Not backup.

Planning a new build and not sure on setup. I like plenty of storage in my machine and have a backup solution.

I have been thinking all SSD storage 2x NVME( 1 OS 500GB, 1 Games 1TB) along with couple SSDs for general storage. Plus I do plan to record game play in the future.

Thanks

2x NVMe (1TB OS and 2TB Working), 3 x SSD (2.5 TB), 6 x HDD (total 28TB), 2 x external NAS (total 40TB), assorted USB drives (Total 12TB).

Edit.. forgot my 10TB Lian Li RAID box attached to the main NAS :)

My main system currently has:
  • 500 GB SATA Crucial MX500 for my Windows/Desktop Apps
  • 500 GB NVME Crucial P1 for Games
  • 3 x 250 GB NVME Samsung 960 Evos in a RAID stripe for virtual machines
  • 2 x 280 GB Intel 900p drives that get used for anything that's really disk intensive (Databases etc) - no RAID for these
  • 2 x 2TB HGST enterprise SATA HDDs in a RAID mirror for general storage
All of that gets backed up to a FreeNAS server

Like the idea of a Freenas. But I haven got a clue how to set one up. If I went to build a freenas it would need to be small quiet.

I currently have the following

1 x Samsung 850 250gb - os drive.
1 x OCZ Trion 250gb - games drive.

in the process though of replacing both of the above drives with a NVME 1tb drive so I can then just have the one drive and I can remove the power and SATA cables as it’s a modular psu.

reason for upgrade is modern warfare (2019 version) now takes up 175gb on my games drive which is most of the space!
