I'm thinking of starting to upload some game play videos on youtube, but I don't think my 128GB ssd is going to cut it, epecially when you factor in having some heavily modded games installed on it as well.

For those of you that do this, what sort of storage capcaity would you recommend (I'm assuming it'll mean going back to a hdd)? I guess I'll be best to get something that's quick for a hdd, but also that gives me plenty of room to play about with.

Cheers.

How about this?

looks good,im using a Samsung f4 2tb myself,the Seagate barracuda 2tb's aren't bad either

and I record and upload game footage to youtube just fine using fraps ect

I currently record vids at 1080 (fraps, full res, 30fps) and the raw dumps use about 2-3 gigs per minute of recording.

Then you want all the extra space for converting/editing/messing about with it.

If you're extremely frugal with your SSD then you might be able to get away with some short vids (assuming you're sitting on 50GB+ free before recording). Otherwise 2TB would be plenty to do hours and hours.

Depending on whether you're keeping the vids for posterity (uncompressed etc) then 2tb would be good, if you're only going to do an hour or 2 at a time and then delete the raw dump once it's edited/uploaded then 1tb would be enough. You could even do 500GB if you want but with mechanical storage as cheap as it is there's not much saving in dropping capacity down that low.

What's the minimum you'd consider, wazza300? 1TB? I suppose anything less than 1TB isn't worth considering.

depends on the best deal gb per £ you can find,i do alright with a 5400rpm 2tb hdd

so anything like that or a faster 7200rpm would be ok
