Hi All,

Ok, its panic time for me really as I am running out of space. I currently have a 1TB seagate external drive that I have had for YEARS!, along with a 1TB internal drive and another 3TB internal drive.

What I basically need is a more storage but I am really wondering how to sort it all out. I am keen to get some form of redundancy that would help with any issues I would have should one of the drives fail but I might even concider a mirror raid array if I could get enough space cheap enough but I suppose I would need like 12TB to backup what I have.

At the moment I am thinking on a microserver but might even concider just adding some drives to my current PC and raiding them to make 1 large drive but I am asking the master of OCKU what you would recommend.

I do have a budget to concider but atm I am happy to pay for the storage I will need so altough I need to do it as cheap as possible I am happy to pay for it now so I would say £750 to give me everything I would need.

I agree that looks like a good setup and that would give me more space with at least some redundancy. How would I go about setting this up and what Kind of transfer speed can I expect? I assume it will be a lot slower than just having 4x3tb install? Would it be better to go for a microserver? Also, my 3tb drive is almost full at the moment so if I was to setup the raid with 3x3tb drives and copy everything over could I then just add the additional drive to the system?
