Storms & Fresh Air

Am I the only one to notice how lovely the air "smells" after and during lightning storms. Is there a reason for this? I would guess the lightning ionises the air, or something similar?

We've all been praying for storms for ages for this very reason. I take it you have one, I can see big clouds your way

Its something to do with mould appearing during hot weather, when the rain comes a load of spores get released into the air (why? I dunno). It sets off my asthma but doesn't stop me liking the smell (and cooler temperatures

)

yeh we had a HUGE storm at 6am and another one is brewing atm.

I love lightening storms.... apart from when they happen from about 2:30am to 5am and I cant sleep

Seems obvious to me. It's the change in air pressure that comes with the storm that we feel, that's why even if you don't see clouds you can sometimes just *tell* it's going to rain.

Combination of things that bring about the "fresh air smell", but ionisation of the air is the main one. It generates ozone which gives the smell.

Oh I love it when it rains and especially after it rains! You're really not alone. When im in bed and it was raining during the night it's lovely. Rain relaxes me
