Stowaway | Netflix

No it was never explained.
I just assumed he was some launch tech, that somehow got stuck in there.

How anyone on the ground failed to notice this is the far fetched part.

And technically if that was the case, he wouldn't be a stowaway.

That was what the film implied, one of the many things that made no sense to anyone who’s worked in a team carrying out tasks on dangerous/very sensitive vehicles/structures.

I thought it started off okay until they literally discovered the stowaway and for the whole film kept thinking:

Ok so they just discovered this extra person on what is obviously is a very important mission, pretty early on. They mentioned the return journey etc so why wouldn't they just go back rather than risk the whole mission/crew/ship. Not to mention no spares of anything.

It would have made for an awkward discussion back on earth when they realised!

"Has anyone seen Michael since the launch?"

"ummmmmm!"

Funny enough I had an incident at work where a Michael went unaccounted for and I was the only person to notice he was missing - at the time I wasn't in the position I am now where I have responsibility for stuff like that. Going back to Terminal Boy's post I've found a lot of people seem to have poor accounting in a crowd for individuals i.e. fire drills, etc. and even in situations with a degree of security, etc. involved some are complacent when it comes to head counts until something happens :s

While it is a bit unlikely given some of my previous work experiences I wouldn't find it totally far fetched.

Watched this the other night. Yeh, was OK I guess. Plenty of holes in the plot to poke at but overall was watchable enough. Imdb score is probably about right though.

Watched this the other night. Had an interesting concept, however the delivery was poor; the ending was just a bit "meh", if I'm honest.

First half was ok, second half was nearly as terrible as the blocky, pixelated mess of a 1080p stream that Netflix thought would be passable in 2021.

At the start I was watching it in a window at 1280x720 and thought it might be decent visually with the setting, etc. and chucked it on my 4K QLED - nope just showed all the compression imperfections and ruined any enjoyment of it visually.

I checked the bitrate while I was watching it, thinking it had automatically reduced itself to 480p it was so bad, but it was 1080p just at a constant 1.18 Mbps. Their 4k content is just as bad during dark scenes and certainly doesn't justify any recent price increase.

At 1080p mine was a constant 6Mbps.
