Strange ati 3d clock problem with crysis

I have a 2900 pro which uses 2 clock speeds. a 2d clock speed and a 3d clock speed. It automatically switches to the 3d clock whenever I run a game. However this doesn't happen for crysis. When I run it it continues using the much slower 2d clock speed.
Anyone else having the same issue? I've tried googling it but no luck so far.
