Strange connection issues

I've got a Netgear Nighthawk 7800 connected to an Openreach HG612 modem. The last three years no issues, suddenly overnight I can't connect to the internet.

After some investigation and speaking to my ISP they said the username and password were incorrect in my router. I've checked and they were right in that logging into the router showed no internet connection. I've re-entered the correct username and password but everytime the router tells me it is incorrect.

Any ideas what could be going on?

try just using directly from the HG612 to eliminate the Nighthawk being issue.

factory reset everything

Ring back and start again

Thanks the only issue is my desktop is upstairs. I'll try a factory reset on the Nighthawk and see if that helps.

At least you'll know for certain when they start blaming your own internal equipment that you can truthy deny it, if its working as it should.

Well you won't believe it but it seems I was incorrectly advised on the username. I had to add @XXXXXXX at the end and not use the same one that's used to login to the website. Third time lucky I got someone that had come across routers dropping the settings before. Apparently the ISP issued ones will pull back the login details themselves but for a third party one you have to re-enter them yourself. Lesson learned!
