Strange conversation with O2 (re: data)

Just called O2 to try to get a retention deal (pathetic, they couldn't even MATCH T-Mobile's price even though I've been consistently averaging £60 on my bills for 3 years! very disappointed, but that's another story), and their representative told me something I wasn't aware of before: apparently, in addition to your monthly 3G data allowance (which is still a pretty paltry 500GB), you get unlimited data through their wifi hotspots! I had no idea of this, and was just wondering if anyone's actually taking advantage of it and can confirm this, or if the lady I talked to was talking spherical objects.

Err, yes, typo, if it were 500GB I wouldn't even bother asking about their wifi!

I won't edit the original post to correct it for comedy purposes though!

o2 retentions...

They've always had free cloud/BT openzone with smartphone bundles. Never really used it as o2s 3G network was just as quick (and unlimited back then)

It's a good idea to bookmark the hotspot locator (esp if your getting close to you 500GB limit

)

Very handy that, thanks! I wasn't actually on a smartphone bundle previously, only had 1MB of included data (that's why I called retentions in the first place).
But, tempting though unlimited wifi is, 3G is, as you say, just as fast, so I reckon I'll go with tmobile and pay £5 a month less.
Very disappointed with them, I've had monthly bills that were £170!
