Strange crashing problem on new computer

My only advice is to swap out that PSU.. you've swapped out everything else so as you say I can't be anything else..

also, I know it's a different graphics card.. but can you try the graphics card in another machine.. I'm wondering if something is borking it... i.e. damaged the first one.. then the second.. although highly unlikely, it's worth investigating and eliminating.

Shame you didn't live nearer.. I'd ask you to bring it in to the workshop.

Again, don't mean to treat you like a noob, but have you checked you have the correct power supply connector connected to the input on the GFX card?

My x850s fan + all worked without the connector, but i often got errors.

The power supply is modular, and they've kindly colour coded the cables for the PCI-E connectors so I believe they are connected properly. I've tried a different cable in case it was a dodgy one, no difference however.

I'm hopefully building a system for a friend in around a month or two so this will give me the opportunity to swap the power supply and graphics card, and hopefully find out what's going on once and for all.

Many thanks for all your suggestions, this is the strangest problem I have ever encountered. I've built a number of systems and never experienced anything such as this.

Now it's a race for me to test the components in question and RMA whatever the weak link happens to be; if I still can. I might even revise for my upcoming exams also.

Cheers,

Rob

Even if the items can't be returned to OCUK, they can be RMA'd to the manufacturer who will supply a new one providing that the item is still in warrantee.. it's just finding out that item :D Please try the graphics card in another system.. I'm kinda worried that your system isn't borking them!!

I hope that's not the case, but I'll give it a try!

Cheers for all the help you've offered, just one last thought; is it possible for me to update the BIOS on my videocard, might this have an effect. That said I wouldn't know where to obtain a newer release from, or the procedure involved for flashing it.
