"This building is surrounded by FILM!" appears to be a quote from Blake's 7 (as in the old BBC sci-fi show). Presumably that user wants to protect their privacy and is spoofing their browser referrer string with that quote - it's very trivial to do.

My logs sometimes contain referrer strings for user agents claiming to be anything from Commodore 64s to ZX Spectrums. There's a plugin for Firefox that allows you to do this very easily (called User Agent Switcher). I use it to get my browser to fool websites into thinking that I'm browsing from a mobile phone to test that my mobile sites are sending adapted content correctly.

Are the websites etc referrers - where the visitor came from?

Only asking as there appears to be, from what I have read around the web, a push on SEO people doing referrer spamming.

They have tools that say they have clicked a link on a website to come to your site - some stats packages can display log files to the public therefore giving a link back to the referring site.

So I guess it gives them more incoming links / pagerank etc.
