Hello can someone understand this problem. First I couldn't get my HD7950 to work with Asrock z68 Extreme4 Gen3, I had to update the Bios to 1.10.
Since then its been working great playing games no crashes perfect. So last night I bought Crysis one from steam and at the beginning on the game on the beach my Display just switches of and says No input signal so I turned pc off and it was still doing it?
In the end it was abit late so I left it till this morning and when I first switched it on it worked first time?

What could be the problem here? is my PC trying to switch to on-board GPU when playing crysis.

thanks for any help.

Theses temps abit high? for just browsing web?

Just ran Prime95 and 5mins later it done same thing so it looks like it's CPU. Just just on H80 and the paste isn't over all CPU I put small blob in mid but it seems to have gone more over one side?

Could this be the problem.

Anyone? I will re do paste later. Question about bios CPU settings should they be anything I should have to change right out the box? I haven't done any overclocking to CPU all I have done is changed boot order and set ram to XMP. Is that all I need to change?

Try re paste, a small in the middle usually works well for me. Those temps seem a little high, but load temperatures are usually more useful!

So it crashed after 5 mins of Prime? What were the temps like?

If you're not overclocking you shouldn't need to change anything. This says to me that the cooler just wasn't on properly. Reseat the cooler, with fresh paste. Then try Prime again while monitoring the temperature.

Thanks will do. When I un screwed cooler it seems I have tightened up one side more than the others, that's probably why paste was more on one side.

I not tried doing it again yet in work thats what it was when I removed it this morning. Ill try doing what you say later and one done am going to run a ram test first see if thats ok then prime95.

I dont understand how playing games like team fortress 2/war inc ran fine? but crysis rashes right away, is crysis more heavy on cpu or something?

Memtest passed two passes without error and I just ran prime95 small for 30mins and passed ok on that. Can someone tell me if my temps our what the should with a H80 on medium fan setting?

Thanks

Just started crysis and this time it went on for longer and thought yes its working. couple mins later bang black screen? no warning nothing?
What could be doing this please help someone?

Ran heaven gpu benchmark for two passes on all high settings and no problems and if gpu was at fault surly with that much power on the test it would crash?
So now I have done Prime95 for one hour no problem, memtest for two hours no errors. So what else does that bring me to try? looks like it just crysis and windows 64bit thats the problem. Not happy about it wait so long to play that game and it dont work.

No, not in the Bios, i meant in windows! Go to control panel / power settings, and set the power to performance, if its set to (power saveing) it could be trying to turn your display and HDD off after a set time.

Leave power saveing enabled in the bios as that will drop the voltage/cpu clock speed when not doing anything intansive.

Thanks will enable that later. In my power settings I have instant boot thing that comes with asrock, going to remove that has its pointless.
My power saving in bios is disable by default

Right done all that and then I downloaded metro 2233 another game been wanting to try out and it done same thing crashed with black screen. So I switched it back on and went into the Bios and it done it there also, switched back on and its been fine??
Are theses settings correct? So has it stands I have spent £1000 on a gaming PC that cant play a game for more than 10mins.

Really need to get to the bottom of this guys.
