So...have an odd one. I have 7 devices within the house that use the WiFi. I can have any combination of them connected and it will be fine...except one pc. As soon as it connects it kills the other devices.

So for example I can download at 4megs a second in my pc and ps4 whilst streaming on an ipad. However if.I connect this other pc to the network I can't even browse chrome on another device.

Any.clues?

Make and model of router?

Information about the PC causing the problem?

Does the same problem exist if that PC is connected using a cable?

Was it okay and then started playing up, or has it always happened?

Router is an ee bright box, latest version.

Pc has just been completely wiped and rebuilt. No chance of a virus etc. On it. Running Windows 10.

Have you tried changing the router's wireless channel? It shouldn't matter but there was a recent thread where that fixed a similar sounding problem.

Trying that one now.

Edit: no joy.

I've just checked the network usage on that PC and it's uploading at about 7 megabytes/s. However when I then click the tab to view what's using it it instantly drops off. Weird or what?!

This is both. From what I'm seeing there I can see the reason, it's absolutely hogging the bandwidth but I'm not sure why.

Are all of the devices Wireless N, AC or what? I know older routers used to have a greenfield mode which would kick older protocol devices off if an N device connected.

Are your 2.4 and 5ghz channels bonded (same SSID) or separate?

Wireless N. I believe the channels are bonded although it may be a moot point as it doesn't look like the 5ghz channel stretches all the way up here so the devices are just connected to the 2.4.

What network card does the PC that's causing the problems have? could it be faulty? are the other devices disconnecting or just being jammed?

That was my first thought but I've swapped the hardware around to check. It's definitely tied to the PC. As I said earlier something on it is whamming up the network usage. Just looked at my router status whilst changing the settings and upload speed is 6.48 Mbps yet the pc was showing in excess of 7 used.

So your freshly formatted PC is physically uploading 7Mbps when connected?

What do you mean swapped the hardware around? have you checked your PC isn't set to bridge mode or something?

Just had to google what that means. And no it's not.

But yeah, freshly formatted (couple of months back but very light usage) PC is hammering uploads. Only programs on it are MS office. GF uses it for work only.

Yeah, both are legit. I'm going to try and see if I can find out what's causing the huge data usage tomorrow - every time I've tried tonight though it disappears when I open the monitor which to me is highly suspicious!

Yeah thats why I'd try a Linux Live CD, if it's fine with that then it must be some sort of super virus or driver/software issue with Windows. If it's the same with Linux then it must be a hardware issue with the PC or a router setting.

Did you get your Windows disc from a legit source? if you downloaded an updated ISO of anniversary edition or something it could be an infected ISO?

Try running "netstat /b" in command prompt while it's uploading.

It tells you which processes are using the internet when you run it.
