I have a set of mobius aduze headphones and these worked fine over a 4.5 m usb cable into my old PC - z77 extreme MB

I have now built a new PC with a MSI B450 carbon pro MB but for some reason the headphones are not being picked up using the same USB cable.

using a short cable works but not the longer cable

it worked before but not now on my new PC

yep tried all the various ports and no joy. The strange thing is that the headphones are getting power as they are charging but i am getting a message to say that the USB device failed (WINDOWS CANT RECOGNIZE THE DEVISE MESSAGE)

There are a number of ways of solving this issue - suggest you Google 'Windows cannot recognise USB device' - as this will give you the most popular fixes (one will simply be letting Windows troubleshoot device and giving it permission to update relevant drivers).

Not all will be specific to your problem but will need ruling out - and some will be obviously unconnected by content in your 'device manager screen'.

Post back if you run into any problems and even if you solve it as it will be useful to others if they search for a similar problem.

I know it sounds daft, but I would wager this is to do with the releative quality of the board. At the time the Z77 board would have been high end, where as the B450 is effectively a budget option. I appreciate this shouldn't matter, but the reason I mention it is simply from my own experience as I come across this issue at work all the time.

We get the issue constantly on our interactive TV's that we now fit into classrooms. With these being in classrooms it's rare we wire directly into the TV itself as we don't want to risk the ports on the TV being damaged. Because of this we use cabling hidden in trunking in the walls into a standard set of ports near the staff PC. This generally means we have a a couple of meters of cable going from the TV into the wall port, then another meter or so going from the wall port into the PC itself. As we have been rolling thse TV's out we have noticed they work perfectly in the clasrooms with older 2nd gen i5 machines in them. But in our more newly upgraded classrooms with h81 style motherboards we get exactly this problem.

When we first encounterd it we tried driver fixes / power saving options all with no sucess and in the the end discovered the only fix is to install an active USB repeater inbetween the PC and the wall port. I appreciate this shouldn't work given that it's adding even more length to the overall cable run, but it seems that the power given to the USB ports from these budget boards simply isn't enough to sucesfully get the signal through all the various connections between the PC and the TV. The PC has no problem powering the usb repeater and I can only assume the active circuitry in these puts out a more powerful version of the same signal which can then make it through the longer cable run to the TV without issue.

In short, try spending a few quid on one of these https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Accessot...ter+cable+5m&qid=1558817760&s=gateway&sr=8-10 (I think I'm ok linking to amazon here as Overclockers don't sell these as far as I can see but apologies if I've got this wrong and mods freel free to remove) and I'd wager your problem will be solved.
