Have been using Windows XP Pro(32bit)for ages with 4Gb of ram installed.
Windows always saw 3Gb out of 4Gb.
I disabled one of the standard IDE PCE controllers and the stupid pc would not boot into windows.
I changed the C drive from the normal SATA(in IDE mode)to the J Micron GSata controller and booted up ok, then re enabled the standard controller, rebooted after reconnecting the C drive to the normal Sata connector.
Now for some reason windows sees 3.25Gb instead of the 3Gb out of the installed 4Gb of ram.
Nothing has been changed in the bios at all.
Any ideas on this?

Sussed it..............
It's my Soundblaster Elite Pro card doing it...
Now that I have the soundcard reinstalled, the extra ram(.25Gb)has gone.
