Strange network share problem in Vista

Hi,

I've set my Simpsons folder as shared on my home network. To do this I right clicked the folder, selected share, and a sort of share wizard came up. I added 'Everyone' to the list of people to share the folder with.

The problem I have is that the networked PCs can see The Simpsons folder, but inside all they can see are the Series 9 and Series 19 folders, completely missing out all of the other folders from 1-8 and 10-18.

When I right click Series 9 or Series 19, and select 'share', I get the same share wizard as I did above. However, when I right click any of the other 'Series...' folders and select share, I just get the standard properties window with the share tab selected.

There is nothing different about the contents of the 9 and 19 folders to any of the other folders, yet the way they can be shared seems critical to actually getting the share to work properly. So can anyone tell me why all of the other folders don't come up with the same share wizard, and how to get them too?

Thanks,

Michael.

Should be an easy fix.

Right click your folder - go to security, advanced, edit...

then put a tick in "replace all existing enherited permissions...."

Click Apply and OK.

Let it scan through and update all the objects in the folder.

This should sort it :)

Hi I did manage to sort it. I had to manually add 'everyone' using the security tab under each folder. What a tedious way to do it, and yet another of Vista's quirks... why the heck did it do this to start with?!
