hi all,here is my problem.

i want to install a fresh new vista on my new 1tb samsung.

sound's easy but there seem's to be a problem with it all.

ive got a 250gb h/d which im using now but will use it for storage once ive sorted this problem out.

ive got 3 h/d's in my pc and last night i unplugged 2 of the h/d's while i install vista onto my new 1tb h/d.

on my m/b i have got 6 sata connection's,the first one is my 1tb h/d to which i want to put a new install on and on the 6th sata is my dvd drive.

when i came to install last night it was taking ages to install (over a 2 hour's) and at the end it came up with a error saying it could not install vista onto this drive ?

the drive is empty so there shouldnt be a problem at all should there ?

i gave up in the end and plugged my old o/s in.

have i got the sata connections the wrong way round...ie:sata 1 should be my dvd drive ?

there is no error's on my h/d either.

it was very very unresponsive to install and was wondering if anyone had any idea's to this ?

As far as I'm aware there is no difference which SATA port you use on the motherboard.

Is your old HDD SATA as well?

But the windows install started so it won't be a boot order problem (I guess you would have checked that anyway)...

Bad cable maybe? Could your Vista disk have become scratched or anything?
