A couple months ago i set up an RMA with BFG for a borked 8800GTX, i haven't sent it of and today was woken up at about 3ish with a phone call saying they would pick it up for me, so i said ok Monday is fine and asked him to confirm my address and he refused saying it was on the database

He then asked me to tell him the RMA which i said he should already have and he didn't seem to fussed. Im just swondering is this genuine of BFG, though i dont know of anyone except my ex and my best mate who know im had the card up for RMA

Is this usual of BFG to call like this?

never known them to do so, or any..saying that why do they want a broke 8800?

Your best bet would be to look up their number again on the website or from email correspondence and give them another call to confirm what's been said.

inexperienced caller or not, they should never need you to confirm basic details, it will be on there system - be careful.

hmm yea i am wary, they left a caller id which i am going to phone form another phone later on tomorrow just to verify its existence lol

i too have never experienced a company to want to arrange a courier to pick up broken hardware without being prompted to

Does sound kinda weird, but like AMG said, why would they want a broken 8800. Be interested to know what your call to the number reveals. If it is BFG then +1 to their customer service.

sounds like some nigerian needs a gfx card upgrade lol......like they said before be careful....if it genuine then go fer it ..gl

Well Fedex guy turns up today in full colors with a van with all the livery so off goes the card...wonder if i will see it again or a replacement if so what??

Do you guys really think it's going to be a scam? Of course its not. It was BFG.

Not the random mystery non BFG faulty 8800GTX collection scammer.

Depending on whats wrong with the card, it may be possible for them to refurb it, and flog it, or return it for recycling back into raw materials etc etc etc. Infact its probably even part of the european WEEE directive to recycle the cards.
