Hi, I have a strange problem with my PC. When i first turn it on in the morning it attempts to post but after around 2 seconds the PC switches off completely and then a second later it switches back on by its self. Again it will not post. It just hangs, I have to do a long press on the pwr button to turn it off. When I turn it back on it starts fine???

Anyone give me an idea of what the problem may be?

Intel DX580G EXTREME series board
Kingston Hyper-x 1600Mhz DDR3
Intel i7 950
Samsung 830 SSD
Corsair TX750 Modular PSU 750W

Thanks in advance...

Do you notice if any settings in the BIOS change, like time and date, just wondering if the battery has failed and the board is reverting back to default settings.

Also try with single memory module, just in case one of these is faulty.

None of the bois settings change, the battery is fine. I will run a ram check to see if there are any problems there...

With regards to the posting response. I do not even get a video output to the monitors to take them out of standby. when it hangs the second time the motherboard LED readout stops on 00 (which is ready to boot) but simply does nothing... just sits there??

I notice when I first turn it on, at the point where it shuts itself down is when the hdd activity light lights up for the first time...???

Just try unplugging all Hard Disks for the time being.. Just to see if it's that causing any problems. It should post with an error saying no OS found.. I doubt it's the HD though as your not getting any POST messages to the screen but try it anyway.

Just a few basic checks, make sure all the power connections, including the 24pin and 5/8 pin ATX connectors are secure.
