Strange power problem

Hi there,

I was just sitting at my computer after a weeks holiday, and the computer shut off completely. On trying to power it back up, it would come on, but it wouldnt boot and the lights and fans etc were all flickering, I'd imagine due to power problems, and the machine would shut off after 5 seconds of trying to start. Power supply I thought, So I changed it for a cheapo one I have spare. The computer now works, but, it did cut out completely twice while starting up, but on the 3rd time it worked and is still working now, this was 20 mins or so ago. Anyone got experience with this kinda thing?. Power supply that failed is 4 months old, and a Hiper 580w. Really wierd, tested it on different cords and sockets in the house too to eliminate that. Any ideas on perhaps a faulty component that would cause this?.

Stick with the old PSU for a bit.

If that works without any more problems, swap it for the Hiper 580w and if it don't work again that will be pretty conclusive.

Motherboard is a Gigabyte MA790FX DS4. Its around 4 months old too, and it looks to be perfect?. Still running stable, I guess that power supply is ****ed... I'll be signing up for the Dead Hiper club. Any more suggestions or anything is appreciated.
