A few months ago i overclocked my phenom. now everytime i boot up my computer from cold the overclock settings dont take affect and the cpu runs at a higher voltage; i think have to restart my computer in order to maintain my 3.9ghz overclocked speed and voltage.

Any ideas?

I have a Phenom II x4 960T, mine sometimes does this using my Asrock board.

If it set it to an overclock, say 4.0GHz usually the computer will turn off and reboot at 4.0. sometimes it doesn't reboot and just goes straight past the bios and it will be at the stock 3.0GHz with the same high voltage.

I found the best way with mine was after i set the overclock I turn off the computer, turn off the PSU then hold the power button for 10 Seconds. Then boot the computer in the normal way, check that it has taken effect in the bios then continue into the windows boot.

That works for me to keep my overclock, it may be worth a try for you to change your overclock slightly and see if this takes any effect.

hmm, My overclock muffs up a bit if i set the overclock in the bios and unlock at the same time.

It is a lot happier when i do things one at a time, overclock, reboot, unlock, reboot. I don't think it would be a bad idea to reset the bios and then readjust the overclock to what it was.

I would use cpuz for checking frequency and vcore, other software can be very inaccurate - open hardware monitor reported my cpu frequency as over 7GHz the other day. So are you losing your settings in BIOS when this problem happens and needing to restore them in BIOS each time?

its probs just my software not doing what it should be, if my voltage is set at 1.3v on my bios.. it surly cant randomly boot up at 1.5v
