Have a weird problem when I rip my music into FLAC files (192kbps WMA just doesn't cut it!) the music sounds absolutely awful. Very difficult to explain but sounds like a very-out-of-tune radio. It only does it occasionally. Did update the firmware on the drive but to no avail.

ANy suggestions?

Use Exact Audio Copy, takes a bit of setting up to function properly but after 5 minutes you've got software that'll rip any CD into FLAC exactly how it was on the CD, I had similar issues with different software and since switching to EAC sound has been impeccable and I've never looked back!

Hmm not good. Trying to rip 'Hybrid Theory' and its not liking it.
Might need to change the drive cos I had issues ripping with iTunes (In Silco) and also with dBpoweramp.
Strange all the dance albums ripped fine just the ones where instruments are played that things go wrong....

does sounds more like a hardware issue, not really every come across anything like that before. not sure what else to suggest and it doesnt seem that anybody else has this issue with the drive, from a bit of googling.

if it does it with different ripping software, and different firmwares, then it does point to the hardware, yes :(

Got a spare sony blu-ray drive I can use so thats not much of an issue. Only thing is the samsung is what I used to rip all my music before in WMA 192kb and it worked fine.....
