Hey, i was just wondering if anyone here could help me out im having a problem installing xp ive previously installed xp on the same system many many times but when i tried to reinstall last week, the installer basically stopped part-way through the installation and the monitor turned off, giving the message "No signal input" . The only odd thing is that i can install and run Windows Vista without any such problems, Ive also tried using a friends xp disc - same problem, ive also just bought a new hard drive as i thought that was the problem, but once again the same thing happens.

Anyone have any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated.

is it during the hardware detection part?

have you changed your graphics card recently

some grahpics cards fail to install xp with certain motherboards, its rare that you find the combinations, but i've got an nvidia chipest that fails to install xp with my old ati card in, i had to put in an nvidia one for the install, then use driver cleaner, then put the ati card in

The Graphics card and mobo are both fairly old and i have installed xp with them both before many times, though it sounds like a similar sort of thing. I may try and borrow a friends graphics card at some point and see if it makes any difference .
