Just finished building my new system, everything has gone well and managed to get it running sweet but i have one problem. My DVDRW now sees not to be able to read any CD or DVD. It was working fine on my P4 rig and i cant by the life of me think what is wrong. If i enter a disc it just hangs for a minute then displays an empty screen.

I have just updated the firmware to see if that made any differnce but still no joy. The player was working on the install as it read XP Pro from the drive while installing but nothing now windows is up.

Any Ideas????

Build.....

Abit AN8 Ultra
AMD 3000+ @ 2.5g + Arctic Freezer 64
GeIL 2GB PC4000
MSI NX6800 ultra

Is it the only device on that IDE channel, and are the jumpers set correctly?...

Can you test it in another system?...

Yep checked everything.

I have just booted into safe mode and it now detects everything i put in. Reboot to Windows normally and it dosen't work.

I confused!!!

Problem Solved.

Had to go into device manager open IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, select secondary IDE channel, Properties/Advanced settings/ & change Transfer mode to Pio only.

Now it's fine....

God help me...

I was going to suggest removing it via the device manager and rebooting, or scan for hardware changes, simple re-detection of devices can solve the stupidest of problems.
