My System:
MSI Neo2 Platinum
AMD 3500
Crucial Ballistix 2x512mb
550W PSU
XFX GeForce 6800GT > Clocked to Ultra Speed
This has been doing my head in the past 2 days.
My case comes with 2 usb ports at the front, Id never used them in the past but since I got my new ipod i thought they would be handy for easy access.
They werent plugged into the mobo, so I plugged them into the spare JUSB2 Socket.
The JUSB1 Socket being used already for the usb ports at the back.
Fire up the comp and everythings fine.
Come to it the next day and the video card wouldnt put up a display. The monitor would stay in standby mode.
Tested it on a diff monitor, same thing.
I was using an extention cable from the monitor to the PC, so I took that out and plugged the monitor cable in direct.
It then worked.
So i thought obviously, dodgy extension cable.
Came to the pc the following day, fire it up, with the extension cable still removed. And the monitor wont go out of standyby mode.
Again I tried with a diff monitor, same result.
So Now I'm thinking its the extra USB cables i put in the previous day. So I took them out, this solved the problem.
Restarted a few times, and eventually the problem occured again.
So Now Im thinking its the video card.
I take out the video card and try it in a diff PC, it works fine.
I tried putting a diff video card into my PC, worked fine, even worked fine using the extension cable.
So I thought id just try the original card back in again, and it worked.
I restarted twice, on the 3rd time the problem occured again.
So what the hell is happening here"!!!!!!!!!
Dodgy Card? Even tho it works sometimes?
Dodgy Mobo?
I have also noticed a new ghosting line on the monitor that wasnt there previously.
