i have a 1998 polo (6n)

apart from it staaling most of the time when dropping the clutch at junctions (air flow meter or broken hose im led to beleive)

another problem occured out of nowhere last night car feel like its dragging its heels a touch and when you get into 3rd gear and put the accelarator down

the cars revs increase rapidly but the car doesnt pull forward at all as far as i can notice..it feel like im in first and pulling off without lifting the clutch properly..

any ideas what this could be?

thanks in advance

Sounds like the clutch is slipping. Try putting it in a high gear (5th) at 30mph and flooring it, see if it does the same.

this happens when im nowhere near the clutch though?

car pulls of fine in first....whether it be from a hill start of not...i think the biting point may be getting higher? is that a sign its about to break?

Yes thats clutch, it probably does it in first as well, floor it see if it does same, if so, clutch replacement time

exactly. your foot if off the clutch, so it should be fully engaged but its slipping.

either needs adjusting or replacing

and the stalling is going to be due to a vacuum leak or bad timing (i wouldnt be money on AFM TBH)

Garage for polo I reckon around £300, but if you try mrclutch.com, they seem to be much cheaper, have a look.
