Strange problem!

I've just put together a build for a mate using the following:

Core i5 760
Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H
Radeon HD 5670

All with a spiffing 600 W OCZ ModXStream PSU

Now, I would have thought that even though the mobo only has the one 12v aux in rather than the usual dual 12v config, it should have enough oomph to power a 5670 surely? I deliberately chose the 5670 as I knew it didn't have it's own power connector, and I'm hard pressed to believe that a 600 W PSU can't provide enough juice as I have a 4670 running in my personal rig at home running from a bloody 300 W PSU!

I tore it down this arvo and whacked a crappy old card I had laying about, and et voila! POST!

Am I missing anything, or is it genuinely a bit odd?

What happens when you test the gpu in another system, may have a faulty gpu.

Sounds like the GPU is at fault. That PSU should be more than enough.

That's one thing I should have done, but didn't have a PCI Express capable mobo with me at the time. I'll have to bring it home with me and whack it in my rig methinks.

I'd be making accusing looks at the GPU aswell. Sounds like you're on the right track with other comments.

It'd be the first GPU to fail out of box for me ever if it is :O Maybe I've just been lucky!
