Strange Problem

I would just tell him to take it to his local PC repair shop and let them sort it out.
It`s no longer your problem. Bought as seen, so he has no claim.
You have been decent enough to try and help him, but if he is`nt being truthful, there is`nt much else you can do.

+1. The kids done something hasnt he by the sounds of it. Maybe ask him to put his dad on and tell him it was fine and its been fiddled with. Politely explain it is not your problem to sort his problems out once you have sold it.

They can not get a refound by paypal
But communicate with them furder
And if they do not want to do something just insist furder
Do not go out of your way to help them
They will try to use any excuse to cause trouble
And kids are not to be trusted

He's clearly ****ed up thinking he knows what he's doing and wont admit to it because he knows that if he can blame it on someone else his ego will be unaffected. Call his bluff and tell them to do one.

Seems likely to be either a case that something maybe came loose in transit or more likely he has fiddled with it without knowing what he is doing and screwed it up. You have tried your best to help, but if he is not going to be honest you are very unlikely to get to the true cause of the problem.

May be best to walk away from this one - politely suggest they take it to a local competent pc shop and get them to sort it out.
