Strange RAM problem..

Hey guys, I've got 6GB of DDR3 Corsair Dominator memory, and have had it for a few months now. I enabled the XMP to run it at 1600Mhz pretty much from the day i built this PC and all has been fine in absolutely everything i have done with it.

But the last two days, i have been playing Dragon age and been having frequent Blue screens sometimes within minutes of starting the game up and playing, where i wasn't having that before. I disabled the XMP and all seems to be fine now.

I'm really not sure what else to say, because like i said, even this game has been running fine till yesterday, i can't think of anything i could have done to start this.

Specs:

i7 920 @ Stock
Gigabyte UD5 EX58
6GB Corsair DDR3 Dominator
Two ATI 5850's

Any ideas? Seems a strange problem to have since everything runs fine without the XMP enabled.

Did you check your CPU and GPU temps?

Also, has that game been updated in the time period in which you are seeing this issue? Or, are there updates available? You never know if a Windows update or other software issue might be hosing your game.

CPU Temperatures were initially a concern, getting around 70c at load, but then i looked around for people using the stock cooler like me and found that was normal.

GPU temps normal too, around 45 - 53c and 35 - 45c idle and around 65c at load. I've just checked the history of updates for Dragon age and there seems to be a recent one which may be the problem. It never did it in Counter-strike after it started on Dragon age, but i'll try a more intensive game to see if it does it on that.

I'll report back with the answers, thanks.

EDIT: Just played left 4 dead 2 for around 20 minutes and it worked perfectly fine with the XMP enabled. It usually only takes a few minutes on dragon age. I guess it must have been recent updates to the game that is causing it.

I got the same problem with an old pc of mine.
I changed all the heatsink paste etc to try lower the temps and everything, but wasn't that...
In the end I just need to update the mobo drives to the latest ones..
And that did the trick <3
