I'm having issues with dinovo set, which consists my mouse refusing to charge at time and the media pad is squeeking, so I go about contacting Logitech about this issue.

They reply promptly agreeing to send me out a replacement dinovo kit.

In return they asked for the following and I quote:

Thank you for contacting Logitech's Electronic Technical Support.

You have to send back some parts to us in Switzerland

The parts, which have to be sent back to us are the following:

- The battery doors from the keyboard, mouse and MediaPad.
- The keyboard feet.
- The USB, PS/2 and power supply plugs. These three plugs just have to be cut off from the cables to which they are attached, leaving as little cable as possible still attached to the plugs.

I can't be the only one reading this incorrectly, I re-contacted logitech to ensure this wasn't a mistake and it isn't.

Strange, huh?

Ninja edit: What would be the cheapest method to send the above? Airmail?

That is really random, but atleast it saves you having to pay for the whole thing to be sent. And you can sell what is left over on the usual place.

It's most likely so you're left with the set in an unusable state so they can send you a new set knowing that you aren't conning them by ending up with 2 fully working sets.

I've heard of the cutting off the plugs one before.

Airmail would probably be the best method, I think there's a ground service but that takes a lot longer IIRC.

I think it's meant to prevent you from re-using or selling the faulty kit, and is certainly cheaper than sending the whole kit back to them, and they would bin it anyway.

It's standard practice with Logitech; makes sure that your product is (reasonably) permanantly unusable before they send you a new one. A friend of mine had a problem with his Logitech MX700, had to send the cables back and now has one dock and two mice to alternate with :)

I would also be looking on in confusion at that! I guess the point is they know it's expensive to send things to switzerland, they don't really want to be receiving faulty kit that they'll just throw away, but they don't want you to have something for free. Very wasteful but that's the way the world is at the moment.
