Ok recently I seem to have obtained a very strange virus on my PC. When I do a google search around 90% of the results are redirected to other seemingly random sites, generally shopping sites
It has affected both my FireFox and Internet Explorer, and no virus scanners are finding it. I have tried googling the problem but the only forum I found on the subject had a solution which worked for one guy, but isn't working for me :(

Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can remove this?

Thanks :)

disable system restore
remove whatever av you've got now

run..

ccleaner slim
nod32 av trial
spybot s&d
adaware
avg antispyware (remove this after)

put firefox on with adblock plus and Easylist subscription (do this on your pc too)

+ don't visit crap sites

He should probably use noscript as well, that would stop any viruses on webpages being executed.

The virus was a .rar file I downloaded, not directly from a site, I already use NoScript.

As for MalwayreBytes, I have already ran that and it found nothing

Treat anything you download on the internet as a virus, and scan it before you unzip/open/run it. I've not had a virus problem to this day.

For Adware, particularly the type that comes free with other programs (toolbars and other junk), make sure you go through the install process slowly instead of just spamming Continue ->, as usually the default option is set to "Yes, I want this crap installed on my PC thank you!"
